This has been going on forever. With the glaring amount homeless people wandering the streets of Detroit, it’s no wonder they have now unionized.
DETROIT — DTE Energy and AT&T announced on Tuesday that monetary rewards will be offered for any information that leads to the arrest of those who steal copper and turn it in for cash.
Copper theft has been on the rise in Detroit and surrounding cities, officials said.
A DTE representative said that there are power outages almost twice a day because of thieves who have climbed utility poles in order to steal copper from electrical wires. DTE believes many of the copper thefts are part of well-organized rings of thieves.
