I came across an article by Sheila Musaji titled “Who is behind Relentless, Obsession and The Third Jihad?”, a 5264 word (including links) article, naming names and somewhat dishonestly portraying the films as islomophobic. I truly detest that term because I am in no way afraid of Islam. I don’t even fear islamists because I am well armed and whatever they are selling, I’m not buying.

She is a fine writer but if you scratch below the surface you find that she uses partial quotes and a touch of smoke and mirrors to make you feel that she is just a madder than hell Muslim who is sick of people putting her and her religion down. She is the editor of a site named The American Muslim or TAM for short.

I’ve found that she has no ability to seperate the terms “Muslim” and “Islamist”.  She injects Dr. Robert D. Crane who says there is a Tsunami of Islamiphobia. It looks to me that these two people are basicly backing each other up on Islamist talking points. She doesn’t contradict what is shown in the movies but attempts to disqualify them by pointing out groups that support and show the films. Check out some of these nuggets:

An early review of Obsession posted on the Jewish Virtual Library site includes the statement: ”A film like this would have been difficult to make a few years ago when it was rare to hear Muslims speaking in their own language.” Exactly what language is the Muslim language?  I only speak English and am an American Muslim. 

If anyone actually clicks the link they will find those words but followed up by these:

Usually we heard only the carefully scripted propaganda designed for Western consumption. Those of us who followed the situation closely knew, for example, that people like Yasser Arafat were saying one thing in English and the opposite in Arabic (one clip shows him condemning terror in English and calling for jihad in Arabic), but non-Arabs only heard what they wanted us to hear. Thanks to organizations such as The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI)Palestinian Media Watch, which monitor and translate what is coming out of the Middle East, we now have greater access to what is being said and written in Arabic so we can no longer be fooled.

Why didn’t she quote the rest? I can only assume that she thought people were not smart enough to actually read the info at the link.  She also skipped over this part of the article:

Perhaps the most important contribution of the film is to show that the Islamists are not focused on “Palestine” or Iraq; their goal is to spread Islam globally. In stark contrast to the nonsensical notions put forward in Jimmy Carter’s book and the Iraq Study Group report that Iraq, terrorism and the Palestinian issue are connected, Obsession lets the terrorists themselves explain their motives and goals. In addition, by showing how the terrorists have pursued their goals in places such as London, Madrid and New York City, the film makers have ably illustrated the worldwide threat posed by the jihadists.

When she quoted the paragraph after that one:

The same article also said:  ”Jimmy Carter and the Iraq Study Group members should be required to watch the film so they will be disabused of their delusion that Israeli policy is the obstacle to peace. Obsession makes clear the real obstacles are the Islamists’ refusal to recognize Israel, the outright hatred of the Jews by many Muslims and the unwillingness to accept a Jewish state on “Islamic land” or Jewish rule over Muslims.” Once again making clear the connection in the minds of these individuals that demonizing Muslims has something to do with supporting Israel. 

I can pick it all apart for you, or you can do the work for yourself. Meh, do it yourself.

The Algerian-born former aircraft electrical technician, who had escaped three deportation orders since 1990 as an illegal immigrant before being granted permanent residency in 1995 on the ground of his marriage to a Lebanese woman with Australian citizenship, is said to have never worked and received welfare payments during most of the 18 years he has been allowed to live in Australia.

Ironically, one of his reasons for seeking permanent stay was that he loved the lifestyle in Australia.

Germany nabs 2 more jihad jackoffs:

German officials said that they believe the pair may have been aware of plans by the Islamic Jihad Union to bomb U.S. targets in Germany but that they did not accuse the pair of playing a direct role. Both men were charged with membership in a terrorist group.

Earlier this month, German prosecutors filed an indictment against the three suspected ringleaders of last year’s plot and said they had discussed a number of possible bombing targets, including U.S. military bases in Germany and a dance club in the city of Giessen.

WDET in Detroit reports on the sentencing of someone trying to buy and export arms to Indonesia:

Federal authorities arrested Hadianto Djuliarso a year ago along with three other men…for conspiring to violte the Arms Export Control Act and money laundering.
The government says the men had arranged to illegally buy hundreds of handguns…machine guns…air-to-air missiles and radar equipment…with the intention of selling the equipment in Indonesia.
It remains unclear just what the weaponry was supposed to be used for.
Djuliarso has been in custody since his arrest…and will now serve three more years in prison…and must forfeit about 600-thousand dollars seized by authorities.
Federal officials say the Indonesian man will be deported as soon as he completes his s entence.

They omit any info about the man’s business partners:

U.S. Military Aircraft Parts to Indonesia- - In April 2005, ICE Detroit and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service initiated an investigation of an Indonesian-based company, Indodial, that was attempting to identify companies that would sell military aircraft parts for export to Indonesia. On June 23, 2005, undercover ICE agents met in London with Ibrahim Amran of Indodial to discuss the purchase and export of military aircraft parts to Indonesia. Amran subsequently agreed to purchase F-5 and OV-10 military aircraft parts from ICE undercover agents. On December 13, 2005, ICE undercover agents met with Amran and Amran’s business partner, Hadianto Djuliarso, in Detroit to finalize the sale and shipment of the military aircraft parts to Indonesia via Singapore. Djuliarso and Amran agreed to buy and ship the military aircraft parts without an export license to Indonesia. In addition, Amran requested price quotes from the undercover agents for Heckler & Koch MP-5 submachine guns, handguns, and sniper rifles. On April 9, 2006, following an additional undercover meeting to finalize the purchase and export of the military aircraft parts to Indonesia, ICE agents arrested Djuliarso and Amran for violations of 18 USC 371: Conspiracy to Violate the Arms Export Control Act (AECA); and 18 USC 1956: Conspiracy to Launder Money. Plea negotiations are ongoing.

Other sources indicate that the aircraft parts may have been ordered by the Indonesian Air Force and these guys tried to secure the parts surreptitiously, but it looks like the small arms and missiles were sought for other purposes.

The indictment and affidavit also allege:

# In July last year, Amran asked for quotes for prices of aircraft armaments for 245 Sidewinder missiles and 5,000 rounds of strafing ammunition. There is no mention of what action was taken on the request.

# In January, Amran received a quote of $3.3 million from a U.S. based-company for 882 submachine guns, 800 9mm handguns and 16 sniper rifles. He said he wanted to buy and export the items even if a license for those transactions could not be obtained.

# On March 31, Djuliarso and Amran sent $447,000 to a U.S. based-company as partial payments for military aircraft parts that included a radar system.

The U.S. attorney in Detroit has called the case “a serious and grave threat to our national security.” U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy III said the individuals were “ready, willing and able to buy American weapons and take them outside the country.”

Hawai’i’s U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo has said the case did not involve exporting the weapons for terrorism.

The defense statement that the aircraft parts were intended for Indonesia comes even as the United States is exploring increasing military cooperation with that country.

The New York Times last month reported that U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called for an expansion of a “strategic partnership” with Indonesia, including increased military cooperation, after the U.S. decision last year to resume military aid that had long been cut off because of Indonesia’s poor human rights record.

In a speech while in Jakarta, Rice said Indonesia had made progress in combating military corruption, the Times reported. “A reformed and effective Indonesian military is in the interest of everyone in this region, because threats to our common security have not disappeared,” she said, according to the Times.

The Ethiopian Army has come to the rescue against the Somali-Taliban asshats by dropping bombs on the two main airports around Somalia’s largest city. According to this AP story Mogadishu International Airport had its single runway and a building used by Islamic forces damaged and Baledogle Airport was also hit. These are great strategic moves since both fields have been key supply links for arms from Iran, Syria and Eritrea.

Sunday marked the first time Ethiopia has acknowledged that its troops are fighting in Somalia, though witnesses had been reporting their presence for weeks. Ethiopia supports Somalia’s U.N.-backed government, which has been losing ground to the Islamists since June.

“Our defense force has been forced to enter a war to defend against the attacks from extremists and anti-Ethiopian forces and to protect the sovereignty of the land,” Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said in a television address Sunday night. “Our intention is to win this war as soon as possible.”

Ethiopia dropped bombs on several towns held by the Council of Islamic Courts and its soldiers used artillery and tanks elsewhere. No reliable casualty reports were immediately available.

Remember the the Islamists called jihad on Ethiopia many times over the last few months:

“I urge all the Somali people to wage holy war against the Ethiopians,” said top Islamic leader Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed, wearing combat fatigues and holding aloft an AK47 assault rifle. “We need action rather than words,” he told a brief news conference in Mogadishu, the capital his forces hold.

But you have love the Ethiopian replies like this:

ADDIS ABABA, Dec 23 (Reuters) - Ethiopia said on Saturday an appeal to foreign Muslim fighters by Somalia’s Islamists proved the “extremism” of the movement Addis Ababa accuses of being run by al Qaeda-linked militants.

“If wishes were horses, the extremists in the Islamic Courts Union would have attacked Addis Ababa by now,” Ambassador Solomon Abede, Foreign Ministry spokesman, told Reuters. “Their declaration appealing to foreign Muslim fighters to help in war against Ethiopia proves their extremist behaviour.”

It has nothing to do with the alcohol I consumed earlier because it wasn’t that much, but the Crap that I am watching on PBS right now makes me sick. The show “Holy Warriors” seems to portray Saladin as fighting a righteous cause back in the day but surrenders fact to dreamy fantasy and does zero to explain what the Muslim “Holy Warriors” did to “Palestine” in the years leading up to the Crusades.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Reasserting his role in Sept. 11, al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui told jurors Thursday he has “no regret, no remorse,” was disgusted by the heart-rending testimony of victims and relatives and only wished they had suffered more.

He said hearing a Navy officer sobbing in court made his day.

“So you would be happy to see 9/11 again?” Prosecutor Rob Spencer asked.

“Every day until we get you,” the bearded 37-year-old Frenchman shot back.

Frenchman indeed!

In a lengthy explanation of why he hates Americans, Moussaoui said Islam requires Muslims to be the world’s superpower as he flipped through a copy of the Quran searching for verses to support his assertion. He said one verse requires Muslims “to fight against all who believe not in Allah.”

“We have an obligation to be the superpower. You have to be subdued,” Moussaoui said. “America is a superpower and you want to eradicate Islam.”

There it is! Paragraph 18 shows the first hint of Islam rearing it’s ugly head.

Frenchman… *spit*

But this is in no way bad news:

LONDON, April 9 (IranMania) - Behruz Gheibi, an official in the Agricultural Jihad Ministry said the production of pistachio would hit 250,000 tons in this Iranian year (started March 21, 2006), MNA reported.

Agricultural Jihad Ministry? Ok maybe this is bad news.

UPDATE:

While doing a search to find out more about the Agricultural Jihad, I found that there is also a Construction Jihad.

In the same article from 2000 I came across this gem:

189 MPs endorsed Mahmoud Hojjati and 55 cast votes against him. 11 remained abstained. He will take over the new Ministry for Agricultural Jihad (Crusade), combining construction jihad and agriculture.

Can you Imagine someone defining Jihad as a Crusade in 2006.

Leave it to the Seattle Post to pull this single quote from a book I would hope has way more to say about the Islamic Republic than “Hookin’ up sucks in Islamic society:

Ok, that may be backwards in relation to this post but Islamic Jihad declares a week-long truce with Israel, but quickly does an about-face.

Islamic Jihad senior leader Khaled al-Batash denied reports that the organization has decided to cease its Qassam attacks on Israel for one week. Al-Batash said that the group had no connection to statements made earlier by an al-Quds Brigades official, who said the Jihad’s military wing intends to halt rocket fire.

Another Jihad official, Sheikh Khader Habib, said Sunday noon that it was not only the Palestinians’ right, but also their sacred duty, to retaliate against Israel. Habib vowed that “the Jihad and the other groups will soon teach the rulers of Tel Aviv a lesson they will not forget.”
